Modules

Computer Animation

In the module you will learn how to create animations. Animate means to bring to life. And that's exactly what you will do in this project-packed module; bring to life objects and characters you create using the Flash software. Along the way, you will discover important movement principles, numerous animation techniques, and functions of animation in the modern world.

Consumer Finance

Consumer and Family Resources and Services provide programs for the education and protection of individuals and families, who purchase, maintain and dispose of products and services. In this module, you will learn about these real-world tasks by pretending to move out on your own. You will utilize computer software to create a budget, to open a checking account, and to make pratical spending choices.

Desktop Publishing

In this module, students will explore the field of desktop publishing. They will learn about the various tools and concepts used in this field. The students will also learn to create various documents while adhering to important publishing principles. After the students complete their publications, they will learn how to export their publications for various media as well as what to look for when selecting a printing company.

Digital Photography

In this module you will take advantage of the unique properties of making and enhancing digital pictures. You will learn how to operate a digital camera and apply both digital and traditional film techniques. You will become familiar with image enhancement software and computer controls for the digital camera. You will also learn about basic design concepts and latest techniques in photography.

Claymation

In this module you will learn about the history of Claymation and about some of the basic materials used to create these characters. You will also be creating your own storyboard, set and character to create your very own Claymation movie using Frames.

Engineering Structures

Students will study engineering principles integral to construction technology and apply these concepts in order to build a bridge. After becoming familiar with beams, panels, and trusses, a computer program will be utilized to design a bridge to cerain specifications. Since the design is on the computer, it can be tested mathematically, altered and modified depending on the test result. When a successful design is achieved, a real prototype can be constructed and then test with a structural stress machine.

Hospitality and Tourism

In this curriculum, students learn about the many facets the hospitality and tourism industry provides to not only consumers, but to those who choose to make

hospitality and tourism a career. Students start by creating a luggage tag and then move on to essential skills such as map reading, and using hotel management

software.

Graphic Design

This module will provide you with some pratical hands-on skills in the field of graphic arts. You will learn about the drawing software as well as importing images into the program. You will then learn how to maipulate the graphics to fit your needs. Once you have mastered the basics, fee free to go ahead and explore the software and its capabilities.

Landscape Design

In this module you will have the opportunity to explore the ornamental horticultural industry. You will be learning how landscaping focuses on the beautification of outdoor terrain while combining the principles of art and the science of growing plants. You will be using software to implement plants and non-living materials into a landscape design project, draw two-dimensional, detailed plans, and prepare a quote of a landscape project.

Manufacturing Concepts

In this module, you will learn about the history of manufacturing, safety rules and the processes used in manufacturing. You will also be discoveringseveral common materials use in manufacturing, such as plastics, wood and metal. Along the way you will be creating a few objects using the power tools.

Nutrition and Wellness

This module covers issues that effect teens and provides them with the knowledge they need to lead a healthy lifestyle. Some of the specific topics addressed are: the five food groups, the food pyramid, body systems, various exercises, blood pressure, body temperature, basic first aid, and substance abuse.

Rocketry and Space

From the fascinating history of rockets to the basic principles of rocket flight, you will receive a thorough introduction to the field of rocketry and space in this module. You will also draw upon Newton's Law of Motion and begin by making a paper rocket in order to obtain specific data to help project flight estimates and distances. You will use the Rocket Sim program to design, build and launch a simulated rocket. As you learn more about rockets, including the role of centers of mass, pressure in rocket stability, and the functions of different model rocket parts, you will build an actual rockets and are able to launch it under supervision of the instructor.

Sewing

This module will provide you with some basic principles of sewing. You will learn the parts of the sewing machines, learn how to thread the machineand bobbin, and how to sew a straight line stitch. You will use this information to sew together a tote bag.

Video Production

During this module you will become familiar with the major components of a video editing system and learn about correct equipment operation. You will learn how to use the equipment and then practice using it doing a sample recording. The module allows for exploration with creative visual image making and features of analog titling, character generation, and special effects control equipment. By planning, writing and shooting a script, you will have a better understanding of media productions.

Vinyl Sign Makng

In this module you will receive real-world experiences by acquiring skills and performing tasks that are comparable to those found in the vinyl sign making industry. First, you will become familiar with the sign making software by exploring sample signs and working with basic text and graphic tools. Next, you will be introduced to sign layout concepts such a proportion, balance, harmony, and symmetry and then apply selected concepts to a variety of sign design project. Finally, you will operate advanced equipment to plot and cut original vinyl sign.
